We recently attended a WIPA retreat on how to get published in sunny Malibu, CA at the Church Estates Vineyard. The venue is gorgeous and we recommend brides to check it out as a possible place for their special day. It was a wonderful experience learning from industry experts like Rebecca Crumley from The Knot, Dana LaRue of The Broke-Ass Bride, and Katrina Razavi, founder of Marriage.com. Let’s not forget the vendors who were amazing– from florals to linens to food. Enjoy these pictures! (Click on pictures to enlarge)

Drink of the Week: Watermelon Cooler
Summer’s here and the watermelon’s are ripe for the picking! This is a yummy way to infuse color into your signature cocktails at your wedding or just to enjoy on a hot summer day
What You’ll Need:
- 3 pounds watermelon, rind and seedsdiscarded and the flesh cut into pieces, plus thin slices of watermelon for garnish
- 1/2 cup vodka
- 1/4 cup Triple Sec
- 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
In a blender purée the watermelon pieces and strain the purée through a very fine sieve set over a pitcher, discarding the solids. (There should be about 2-1/3 cups juice). Stir in the vodka, the Triple Sec, and the lime juice, pour the cooler into long-stemmed glasses filled with ice cubes, and garnish each drink with a watermelon slice.

Real Wedding: Chaldean & Mexican Decadence
This was a bright and decadent wedding! The bride is Chaldean, and from Iraqi descent, while the groom is Mexican. Normally in Chaldean culture, the groom pays for the wedding expenses, but according to Mexican customs, the bride pays–and you can definitely see the bride’s Chaldean influences throughout. Ghada wanted certain shades of yellow to be highlighted throughout the wedding, and a posh feel for the reception.
From the dress to her accessories, the bride was dripping with diamonds!
They opted to take pictures beforehand Balboa Park because it was going to be a late ceremony.
This couple wanted to do a “first look”. Some couples find this to be more intimate and relaxing than the initial moment at the ceremony in front of guests.
The couple had a Chaldean priest perform the ceremony.
For the reception, Ghada & Leo had a Euro Bar with espresso, lounge chairs, a Middle-Eastern band from San Francisco, and a belly dancer with candlebra for the grand entrance for guests to enjoy.
